Mist

Finally I can breathe.
The dying geyser seethes
The retreating tide respires
I took you way down deep
Drank you to the bitter lees
Now the poison’s left the heart
And mist blows over the trees.

This is an interesting poem. The is something about the cadence that tripped me up, an off beat kind of sound that has a really cool effect. I find this happens in lines 2 and 3.
