The moment of truth

The light can only come in through the cracks, X tells me, you can only see it through the cracks. What cracks, he says, what’s he talking about? When things shatter, he says, when things stop making sense, that’s the moment of truth, the messianic moment. What the hell’s he talking about? he asks. The light only comes though the cracks, he says, you can only see it through the cracks, it stands to reason. But the cracks in what, he says, what light, and when will he stop talking about things he doesn’t understand? Why does it give him pleasure? Does it give him pleasure? He should follow the classic advice, he says, and stick to what he knows, only talk about what he knows. So what do I know? he asks. I clearly need to get laid, he says, that’s what I know.
