Part and apart

‘I fell out of life. I would have fallen out of your favour if you’d had any favour to bestow or deny. Or do you? I wrote the same thing over and over, about how I woke up and started sleeping, about how I fell and you pulled me back into yourself. Everything I wrote was part of everything else I wrote, part of it and torn apart from it, as stones on a beach are part of each other and torn apart from each other. My words washed over me, your words. I woke up refreshed, stumbled around half asleep, reached out and got drenched.’
